Contemporary New Window

A new client approached us to design and manufacture a new stained glass window for their extension. They had shown an interest in various figurative illustrators and prompted us to go along the theme of two female figures with long flowing hair. They also wanted the glass to be bright and colourful.

The imagery we went for was of the Roman goddesses, Aurora and Luna. Aurora has her hand reacting up to call out the sun, with her feathered shoulder plates hinting to the armour she is often depicted wearing. Luna sits on the other side, holding the moon close to her as she covers herself with her cloak and engulfs the sky in darkness, bringing out the stars.

Painting was kept simple to allow the glass to shine through and not completely obscure the view through the window but also to allow time to put detail into the faces.

The windows are 285x1380mm each
